I attended a wonderful networking meeting this morning full of wonderful people in our industry. It was really nice to hear that some of the issues that I have as a vendor are all over, its not just me and how I can change my attitude too stay positive in this ever changing industry.
Being able to be and stay happy for me, my family and my staff is the first and most important thing that I want to do as a person and business owner. I am proud to say that I am always 100% completely honest and I will just say what I mean and I think. This hurts sometimes in business as I am not in sales, I do weddings. I manage vendors, staffing, set ups, coordinate and make sure that my brides are guests and enjoy their days.
I received this image and small message in a newsletter from the ABC a couple of weeks ago and its perfect! There are many options for planners and coordinators now. Wedding Weekend, Day Of, Month Out, Full service, etc. As a bride it can be confusing because really what are you getting? I have made the mistake myself!
There is no such thing as a day of coordinator. Unless this person seriously only shows up on the day of, crosses his or her fingers, making sure the bride as covered everything with everyone. No way I will do that. I want to contact all vendors and make sure I personally have talked with them, I want to put out all of the fires I can BEFORE the day of the wedding. It just makes everything easier on everyone!
WEDDING MANAGEMENT – such a better term. It defiantly explains better as to what we really do. Ask any of my past brides and they will all tell you it is not just Day of! We spend hours talking, meeting, emailing, texting, etc. weeks, months, days and even hours before to make sure that everything is handled.
